Holiness – A 1000 Times Word

Image
Whenever I make a important point to my sons, I say. “Listen, I have told you 1000 times and I am saying it again now...”. Well, saying something 1000 times means its really important. The word “Holiness” appear 1066 times in the bible. It means it is very important for a Christ follower to be Holy. I have not heard a complete sermon dedicated to the topic of Holiness for quite sometime. The bible we read is called a Holy Bible. The God we worship is a Holy God. But we seem least bothered to about Holiness. Its bothering me. Heb 12: 14 says “…Work at living a holy life ,for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.” (NLT) “…Pursue …. holiness, without which no one will see the Lord” (NKJV) “…pursue that consecration and holiness without which no one will [ever] see the Lord.” (Amp) We are called to “Work” at living a Holy life and “Pursue” Holiness as if it is our only dream. A Holy Life is a greatest evidence of Jesus on this earth. It is difficult to argue against

Build Your Kingdom Here!!

Image
This is one of my favorite song, which I heard all day long today!!

Are you the Reason?

Your life is a instrument which brings praise to God's name or it can be a instrument which dishonors God before others! Many times our life is the reason why God's name is blasphemed among others. Gandhiji liked Jesus but didn't want to follow him because of the way christian behaved. God is mocked because we dont live a life that reflects him. Romans 2: 24 says "The gentiles blaspheme the name of God because of You".. Is that You! Are you being a hindrance for others to come to Christ! Is your life a wrong example? Lets pray that Christians will be bridges for others to come to Christ and not barriers.

Eating Like Jesus!

Image
One of my friend told me, if only he knew the food that Jesus ate he would follow the same diet and be more fitter and well built.  Well, i dont know much about what menu Jesus did follow. But i am very confident about one particular food that Jesus ate. Am so confident because Jesus himself spoke about this food that nourished him.  Its found in John 4: 34",  “My food,”  said Jesus,  “is to do the will  of him who sent me and to finish his work Do you eat the food that Jesus ate? The food that brought him nourishment was Doing the Will of the Father who sent him.  My friends let's eat like Jesus, yeah, lets do the will of Our Heavenly Father and finish his work.

Unoffered Prayers

Image
Before the arrest in garden, Jesus prayed. But its interesting to me that he didn't pray for deliverance when he was arrested or when on cross. It was not a time to pray. It was a time to DO God's will. There are times in our life when we need to sweat blood in our pray time. But Jesus also had this moments where we expect him to pray for deliverance and he doesn't. He could have prayed when he was arrested, but he didn't. He could have prayed that Peter should not be tested, but he didn't. He could have prayed that Judas would repent, but he didn't. He could have prayed that John the Baptist be delivered, but he didn't. He could have prayed, but he didn't sometimes. I have been thinking of these lately. Unoffered Prayers. What does those teach us about the prayer life of Jesus and about God?

ACCIDENTAL PHARISEES: Book Review

The Dark and Dangerous Side of Overzealous Faith This is an interesting book. The author says nobody plans to become a Pharisee but through the years they accidentally become a Pharisee. He deals with some of the main characters of the then Pharisees and speaks to the Pharisees now. Though the reading is easy, digesting some facts may not be easy. Somewhere down the chapters you might feel like looking in to a mirror. Overall its a must read book. Just Like Jesus: Book Review

This is one of the best books i have ever read. That's not only because it was written by Max (I am a huge fan of him) but also because of its content.  From the scripture, max unveils the heart of Jesus. Chapter after chapter we are drawn towards the heart of Jesus.  Just Like Jesus, challenges us to live like Jesus.   I do want to read it every year and see if my heart is reflecting Jesus more than the year before. Christmas Stories: Book Review

A heartwarming collection of Christmas stories and reflections from Max Lucado These stories—like your favorite Christmas ornaments—come in all shapes and sizes. They unfold in a variety of settings, from ancient Bethlehem to rural England. From a small Texas town to the heavenly realms. Some are short. Others many chapters long. Some offer reflections. Others imagine Christmas through the eyes of a burnt-out candle maker, a lonely business man, or heavenly angels Overall a good Read!! Testimony!

Image
John the Baptist gave testimony about Christ. He was a witness. As he gave testimony about Christ, people starting following Jesus (John 1;35-39, 2:11). His testimony and teaching pointed towards Christ and many started following Jesus (John 2:11). John’s gospel itself was written as a testimony about Jesus. And in this gospel, John emphasis on the power of our Testimony (John:19:35, 20:31) Samaritan women is another example. Through her testimony many Samaritans believed in Jesus. (John 4:28-29,39) Jesus prayed that through the disciple’s testimony many would believe in Him. (John 17:20) John also writes about people who are afraid testify Jesus because of their “fear of Jews”. (John 7:13, 9:22, 12:42, 19:38, 20:19) John the Baptist boldly testified about Jesus when so many where afraid to. He is our example to testify about Jesus. And his testimony made many to follow Jesus. Finally, Jesus commands us to testify about him. (John 15:27) What are you t

A Voice Shouting!

Image
“I am a voice shouting in the wilderness,      ‘Clear the way for the Lord ’s coming!’”                                                                           - John 1:23  John 1:23 is about John the Baptist as we commonly call him. He was the voice shouting in the desert. He had a special calling to be the forerunner of Jesus. He was pointing not to himself but he was a voice that was pointing to Jesus, who was the Word.  Nobody could ignore this voice. People were coming from all over the country to hear this voice that shouted in the desert.  I believe that every follower of Christ is called to be a voice that points others to Jesus. What is your Life Shouting to others? Is your life shouting Jesus to others? Or is there some other message that your life shouting?  What do people hear as they look at your life? We are called to live a life that Shouts Jesus. At least does our life whisper Jesus?  May be always realize and be aware that we are call

Revealing God to Us!

Image
The Word was with God. So the Word became human [ d ] and made his home among us. He has revealed God to us. (John 1:1b, 14, 18c (NLT)) Sometime back, some were writing a book about my father. So they called me and asked me details about my father. Since I was with my father longer than them, they thought I would be the best person to reveal or explain about my father.  What if we have a person who was with God from the beginning? And what if that person would come and live with us and reveal or explain God to us. Well, this is exactly what Jesus did. The Word (Jesus) was with God from the beginning. So Jesus would be the best person to reveal God to us. Jesus came into this world to reveal God to human beings. He became human and made his home among us. You may have so many questions about God. Read through the gospels and follow the character of Jesus. The way Jesus talked and acted would be the exact way God would talk and act. As we start this New
